...from Toledo.
Toledo, south of Madrid by about 1 hour, is a city built way up on a plateau.
Like Segovia, it features an Alcazar at its highest point, although this one has been
destroyed many times and rebuilt in the 1800s and now serves as a museum.
Toledo is interesting from a religious standpoint, serving as an important center to Islam,
Christianity, and Judaism. Where else would you find a Synagogue with the words
"Santa Maria de la Blanca" in its name? Here also, you will find the "Mujedar" style
of architecture, featuring detailed wall carvings (also seen in the room where
we saw the flamenco) and rounded arches and posts. Toledo also has some good
shopping, and great pastries, especially if you like marzipan, almonds and pine nuts.

Great view of Toledo from our hotel. That's the Alcazar on the extreme right.

Another bell gable, this time in Toledo.

Ellen in one of the streets in the 'maze' of Toledo.

Interior of the Sinogoga de Maria de la Blanca. Note the Mujedar influence.
